Galaxy Project

The galaxy project was a group project for pre-calculus. It was based on the idea that Earth has a carrying capacity and to avoid extinction humans would have to travel to other planets that they could live on. We had to research possible planets that could sustain life and were given certain rules on our space craft in order to calculate how long it would take to get to the new planet. We chose a planet called Zarmina. From there we found Zarmina's carrying capacity and chose a percentage for when people would leave Zarmina for another that is very similar to Zarmina known as Zarmina 2.0 . The project went on like that and we had to make many assumptions on the people and the planets. What made this project so special was the end of the project. The information had to be compiled onto a tri-fold poster board. At that point we really let our imagination run. I may have overdone it a bit with the planets, people, little space crafts, and painting the back ground but the end results were satisfying. I decided to put my group's galaxy project because I put a lot of effort into the project and all of my group members worked hard on the project along with me. This project is in a way an embodiment of what teamwork can do. It showed how far I have come in terms of team work.

Water Blob

The water bob was a physics project on where you had to explain an amusement park ride to a visiting alien and how it was fun. It was another group project because Frank McCourt high school emphasizes group work. We explained the ride and used the water blob in Cham, Switzerland. Ms.Jun is sitting on one end of the water blob. On a raised platform is my group. We jump from a height onto the other end of the water blob. The force causes Ms.Jun to go flying in the air.We calculated the potential energy, kinetic energy, velocity, and height in the water blob situation. We explained each part of the water blob and how being thrown into the air and than into water was so fun.

We Didn't Start the Fire Video

We didn't start the fire is a song by Billy Joel . This project used his song because his song has many historical terms during the 1900's.  In this project we were also in groups and with these groups we created charts about each tem within the song. To make the process faster we divided the stanzas amongst ourselves. Than we had to explain what the term ment, if it impacted the US or the world, and the impact it has than and now. Afterwards we had to create a video using Billy Joel's song. We put images inside of a video to match the terms that are stated. The results was Billy Joel singing the song to our clips and images that matched the terms he sang.
